During the work of the Kazakh-Finnish intergovernmental commission on trade and Economic cooperation, he held a meeting with the Minister of Environment and Climate Change of the Republic of Finland, Ms. M. Ohisalo, on cooperation in the field of ecology.Our country is committed to the collective tasks of the world community to achieve carbon neutrality and welcomes Finland's international initiatives in this area. Kazakhstan has joined the Coalition of Finance Ministers to Combat Climate change, created on the initiative of the Finnish side. We hope that participation in the Coalition will contribute to ensuring a fair transition to sustainable development with low carbon emissions. During the meeting, it was noted that Kazakhstan has developed a draft Strategy for achieving carbon neutrality of the country until 2060, which contains targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, taking into account transformations in economic sectors with a view to decarbonizing them. The work on updating nationally determined contributions (ONUV) is being completed. The approved Strategy and ONUV are planned to be presented at the 27th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will be held in November this year. Minister Ohisalo proposed to intensify cooperation in the field of climate change and biodiversity conservation.The issues of waste recycling, water and forest resources management were also discussed. We have agreed to hold a Joint forest forum in Kazakhstan in 2023. In conclusion, he invited the relevant state institutions, organizations and companies of Finland to implement joint projects in these areas.
